I have had a few busy days with visitors and family lately . which has been lovely, and are due another lot of visitors on sunday ,Rods brother dave and his wife Ali are visiting for a few days ,which will be nice .
I thought i would tell you about my little scare i had last week . it certainly got my heart racing .
i was sitting outside on my front bench having a morning coffee ,sunning my toes and contemplating my day when i heard a rustling in the leaves under the big oleander bush on my right .well to my horror and absolute shock a brown snake came slithering its way towards me .i shant write the words that came from my lips as they may offend lol, but you can imagine . i had enough time to swing my legs up on to the bench before the snake decided to park itself underneath and we were eyeballing each other through the slats .now i know he was only there for maybe five minutes but to me was like an eternity. all the while i was trying to calm myself and my vocabulary was quite colourful lol .after what seemed an eternity ,(and i have no idea how i sat so still with the flight instinct trying to convince i should be high tailing it outa there )he decided to slither away under the house .i sat for another minute trying to decide if it was a good time to pump my crazy legs and run for my life .then the flight instinct took over and i made it to the verandah where of course i did the crazy dance ,you know the one where you jump up and down and shiver and wriggle trying to shake it all off still cursing and mumbling the f word lol .ok so i get to a reasonably calm state decide that i can live with the fact that he is somewhere under the house and not much i can do about it , and proceed to make myself a cup of tea ,(which in itself was no mean feat considering the fact that i was shaking so badly took me three goes just to get the suger in the cup lol .) then wander back out the front peering through the screen hopeing against all possibility that he hadnt returned , well guess what.... he came back . that was his undoing , now i love all animals and actually think snakes are beautiful creatures ,except when they are lurking and slinking around my front door . i became a little inscensed at the fact that this was my fav place to sit and take in the morning sun ,and here he was taking over as though it were his place to roam .anyhoo long story short i got up enough courage to send him to snakey heaven with the garden shovel and am feeling quite brave and chuffed with myself .
only thing is even though he is gone i still cant seem to relax out there quite as easily as i used to .maybe a good thing .what do you think ?
enjoy the pics :)
take care
